Blackboard is a learning management system (LMS). It allows students and faculty to participate in classes delivered online or use online materials and activities to complement face-to-face teaching.

The Assessment tools in Blackboard allow you to provide students with different Types of Questions as a scored test or un-scored review of knowledge they are trying to understand. You can build a Test or Quiz that can be either a part of their grade or a self-test.

The Blackboard Content Editor appears in several places when you add content to your course.For example, when you create an announcement or item, add questions to a test, or post to the discussion board, you will see the editor interface shown below:

Blackboard is changing the way Hofstra’s Blackboard system is hosted. In the new system, Hofstra has been promised zero downtime for upgrades and patches as well as constant access to the latest security upgrades and feature updates.

Blackboard Support Approval. In an effort to provide the absolute best Blackboard support to the student community, it is often necessary for a Faculty Computing Services (FCS) or a Student Computing Services (SCS) full-time employee to enroll themselves temporarily in your Blackboard course in order to see your course(s) and identify any problems that may exist.

Login to the Hofstra portal. Click the Applications menu icon in the top right of the portal, then select the “Blackboard” button from the menu. In Blackboard, choose “Course” on the left (or My Courses under Quick Links). Scroll down the “Law School” course, listed under “LAW_GRAD_DEPT” and click on “Law School”.
